| Don't make fun of people with disabilities, regardless of what the disability is. It may be a physical one, it may be a mental one, but these disabilities do not stop them being wonderful human beings. Everyone has feelings and everyone can feel hurt. Feel free to share and show your support. |

I myself had a child with special needs and it was very hurtful to myself and my daughter to watch people stare, whisper etc... People can't be so cruel. My daughter would get upset and cry. I would confront those people and tell them how hurtful that was to my daughter and would tell them instead of being ignorant by staring and saying bad things, come up to me and ask me about her situation and then maybe understand and feel more compassionate. To me, when people act like that, it is the same as bullying and so not okay
To anonymous : I totally agree with you. I, too, am a special needs parent of a 35 yr. old son and have done the same to people in public.
You are so right. I have to embrace instead of making a disgrace of myself. I have begin a relationship with a family that has a special needs little girl. I found she has more strength and compassion that I thought anyone could ever have. She able to smile when the world frowns on her. She waves when they won't wave back and she turns and smiles at me. My heart melts for their ignorance and her strength. I embrace and enjoy all my moments with her. She gives me the ability to accept the things I cannot change. This 3 year old is miracle that has been placed in my life for the betterment of me. I thank God for her and her family. I love her for just being her. This 3 yaer old has changed me for the betterment of my existence
There are no truly disabled people there are only other-abled people.
