We All Make Mistakes, We're Only Human!

Everyone makes mistakes in life, but that doesn't mean they have to pay for them for the rest of their lives.
Sometimes good people make bad choices but that doesn't mean they're bad people.

It just means they are HUMAN!

All depends on the mistake. Some mistakes don't deserve forgiveness. Espcially a mistake of walking out on your wife and kids and then just expecting to walk back in like nothing happend 12 years later. Sorry...no forgiveness there.

Depends who it is and what they have done

Anonymous, my experience have taught me that every mistake is forgivable... Every mistake! Forgiveness does not condone the mistake, it only frees your heart. He has already robbed you and your kids from so much by causing you so much hurt. Don't allow him to rob you from more happiness and love! Forgiving him, frees you to allow love and peace to enter your life and experience it in full. When I initially heard the saying: Hurt me once, shame on you. Hurt me twice, shame on me... My reaction...well, it wasn't pleasant :-) But I have learnt that we teach people how to treat us. We can show them with tact and integrity that we will not tolerate them to hurt us or treat us bad. Don't allow him to keep you hostage by the hurt he has caused... Allow yourself some peace and freedom from the hurt. No judgment, just experience xoxo

triffiks That's right, no one is perfect. And perhaps Jesus is real and YOU are a myth.
In all seriousness, you have every right to not believe. But in turn, you ought to give a believer the same courtesy.

let's get this right people... humans will make mistakes and mistakes are errors in judgement, traces not thought out fully ,correctly, boiling a three minute egg for 5 minutes ....mistake!!!
turning left instead of right now you're late for an appointment mistake!!!! but when an action is thought out, and intent with an outcome that isn't what somebody wants is not a mistake, and then back years later because you realized you had better and the grass wasn't greener.... that's a backfire not a mistake..... in my opinion from a non perfect human being who made mistakes, I also known as a cop out when here's one!!!
but if it helps those ones who made these "mistakes "sleep better fine it was just a mistake forgive yourself... make peace with your Creator he knows the truth!!! peace

"...you ought to give a believer the same courtesy...."

I am an atheist, and I fully agree with the "courtesy" statement. If a believer says "God bless you", "I'll pray for you" or similar comments, I take it as a kind gesture and I thank him/her... But I do not want their religion shoved in my face as though they are trying to convert me. We all want the same courtesy.

I do not consider "Only Jesus is Perfect" to be proselytizing. The poster was merely expressing his/her faith.

We all live our lives making choices that we feel are the best at the time for whatever the reasons that put us in the positions to make them. Sure we can said "Oh If I done it the other way it would have been better, But how do you really know that to be true. Every road we take on every path leads us toward different optical. Maybe it would have been a worst life if you went the other way. The Truth is as long as we do Good and do what is right no matter the road then and only then can we rest assure that we did the right thing. We all have the ability to know what is the right thing to do. We can make all the excuse we like , but wrong is wrong and right is right. Its when we make selfish choices that we tend to make the wrong choices. We should make the choice for what is best for everyone not just ourselves. And when we do make wrong choices, they are called mistakes. We all make them. It has nothing to do with being perfect or not. We all live as life flows. Life is about choices. If someone does make a mistake toward us. Then it is good for us to forgive them. Forgiveness free us from the hurt within us so we can move forward. But what we need to also do is to forget also. See people as they are ,If they are good you will be able to see it . If they are the are not than nothing has changed in them , Then forget them along with their offence toward you and move on. Life is about being good to ourselves and others.

Forgiveness is not the same thing as atonement or justice and paying for your deed(s). Forgiveness is a blessing more to your own heart and well being than the one you forgive - they may not even care. I forgive to lighten my own burdens - hopefully theirs too, but if they don;t know or care, not doesn't lessen its blessing for me. That does NOT mean that you have to let them back in your life, or not expect full penalty to be paid! Two very different things. "I forgive you" does not mean "OK, you are scot free". People confuse that concept all the time.
