Smoking Kills - YOU NEED TO READ THIS!

The top 10 worst ingredients in cigarettes were identified by the United States Department of Health and Human Services.

The list includes 599 additives and since cigarette burning alters the chemical compositions, up to 4 thousand are created when cigarette is burned, impacting not only on you,
but everyone around you.

Among the most hazardous ingredients in cigarettes are the following:

1. Nicotine – one of the most important ingredients in cigarettes

Nicotine is an addictive psychoactive alkaloid. It is the primary compound in a cigarette. Since it is a stimulant, it increases blood pressure and constricts veins and arteries. It prompts the body to release cholesterol and fat into the bloodstream, and may lead to the development of blood clots.

2. Benzene

This is a carcinogen substance. It increases the possibility of developing leukemia  In addition, it damages the central nervous system and can lead to a variety of health problems. Among them are paralysis, convulsions, tremors, dizziness, coma, sleepiness, tightness in the chest, anemia and bone marrow damage.

3. Formaldehyde

Formaldehyde is colorless  odorless  and taste-less. This gas is used to preserve dead bodies. When a cigarette is burned, formaldehyde is synthesized. It is responsible for eye, nose, and throat irritations. It can also cause nausea, wheezing, skin irritations and nasal cancer.

4. Arsenic

This is one of the toxic chemicals commonly used in rat poisons. Pesticides that are commonly used on tobacco farms leech arsenic into the plants. Potential health effects include cancer of the kidneys, liver, bladder, skin and lungs.

5. Cadmium

Cadmium is a poisonous heavy metal which is present in cigarette smoke. People who smoke have twice the levels of cadmium in their bodies as compared to non-smokers. Health risks include nausea, vomiting, renal failure, shock, convulsions, muscle cramps and sensory disruptions.

6. Ammonia

Ammonia is a toxic ingredient found in fertilizers and cleaning products. It is incorporated into cigarettes in order to enhance the effects of nicotine. Its potential effects on health include damage to the lungs as well as death.

7. Hydrogen cyanide

Which is a toxic compound used during the manufacture of paper, plastic, and textiles. This poisonous chemical was used by the Nazi soldiers in the deadly gas chambers during World War II. Potential health risks include headaches, weakness, dizziness, seizures, irregular heartbeats, fainting, vomiting and death.

8. Carbon monoxide

Carbon monoxide is a lethal compound which is present in car exhaust. Very high concentrations are contained in cigarettes. Among its health hazards are chest pain, dizziness, confusion, vomiting, nausea, disorientation, loss of consciousness and death.

9. TSNA

This is a compound composed of four carcinogenic chemicals. Its hazards to health include cancer of the mouth, pancreas, lungs, esophagus and liver.

10. Polonium and lead

These 2 ingredients are among the radioactive chemicals in cigarette smoke. These toxic metals stick to cigarette tar and cause radioactive hot-spots to develop in the lungs. Ultimately, it can cause lung cancer.

THESE EXTREMELY HARMFUL INGREDIENTS ARE JUST THE TIP OF THE ICEBERG. NUMEROUS OTHER TOXINS HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED. THEY INCLUDE CHEMICALS PRESENT IN ROLLED CIGARETTES, AS WELL AS THOSE WHICH ARE SYNTHESIZED THROUGH THE BURNING PROCESS.

PLEASE SHARE AND PROMOTE AWARENESS.

    1. They are not banned because of the economy. We need cigarettes for cash flow. The tobbaco company stated that its products are harmful, the usa just doesn't care.

  3. I agree.. I'm once again - a none smoker (on & off for 35yrs)

And.. Why, along with public drinking of alcohol (resulting in drink driving), the use/abuse of meth, cocaine, ice, ecstasy and ALL those nasty addictive drugs that lead to people getting killed or turning into killers???

Why are they allowed on the streets... Cigarettes and alcohol, well we all know who gains from the sale of them.. And how much they are great revenue raisers!!

  8. We all gonna die someday anyway therefore I'm gonna enjoy my cigarettes it's one of the few enjoyments I have in this world, it's a lot safer than drinking alcohol then driving putting yourself and others lives in danger, when I light up I'm in the comfort of my home, or my vehicle it's been ban everywhere else, so whatever look at statistics it proves that drinking and alcohol is one of the number one killers in America

    1. Cigarettes absolutely contribute to an early death ... you are in denial and hiding behind alcohol you perceive to be worse.

  10. I would love to for them to actually list all 599 additives they say are in them and list all 4000 other that are created. Where can I find this study? Why don't they do a study and publish about alcohol and the affects it has on people or would it be worse than cigarettes.

  11. I quit Memorial Weekend 2015 after smoking for 30+ years. I was firced to after contracting pneumonia & being admitted to the hospital with a pulse o2 of 82. I sure wish I had quit sooner. While I am no longer smoking, the damage is done. I now am on O2 24/7. I cannot leave home without it. My regeet is not quitting sooner. Especially considering that I frew up watching this same scenario with my father (who has since passed from lung disease) & brother & sister. There are programs available in all states. 13. After watching 2 relatives die from smoking related diseases, I can tell you it is a horrible way to die.
My grandmother literally smothered to death!
My father died in October after being ill for 7 years with cardiovascular disease.
He could barely walk, breath and the doctors kept putting in stents, pacemakers, icd's , you name it, they tried it.
There was nothing that could be done.
    QUIT!

  14. Free Misic Dowloads, you absolutely do have every right to smoke. I only hope you do not have children or pets. Toddlers, dogs and cats have died from chewing on cigarette butts. Nicotine poisoning, the butts have a very high concentration of nicotine, the chemical that makes the butts turn yellow. People and animals also die from second hand smoke.

  15. There are many "Anonymous" comments left here stating this report to be "opinions". Please take the time and educate yourselves on the difference between Facts and opinions.
I am so glad I gave up smoking over 25 years ago having smoked 3 packs a day for over 25 yrs +.
If people wish to smoke then that is their choice, however if they learn the facts as in this and other reports and wish to continue then it shows how ridiculous their choices can be.
Smokers should smoke only be allowed to smoke at their own homes and not in public areas that are for the freedom of all persons to utilize in a "smoke free" Chemical Free environment. I am sure many smokers would not eat their lunches in a chemical storage room! so why do you expect non smokers to do the same when enjoying their lunch in the on street cafe's and restaurants etc.
Please consider and respect everybody else before forcing others to breath your chemical pollution. and please consider your children at home when you light up. Cheers

Now it is Tuesday and I have 2 left in my pack that I have now and I am going to try my best to quit. The doctor says lose a leg in a year and a half or quit. Such a hard addiction. I have to quit but it is so hard.

  18. Well, it would be nice to have better programs for quitting smoking like they do for heroin. I had a psychologist once tell me this -- that cigs are more addicting than heroin because they both calm you and increase your focus due to the chemicals in them. For some people it is not easy to quit due to these factors. It changes the chemicals in your body and it affects people differently. If you found it was okay for you to quit and you didn't have any issues, then good for you. But some people don't have that kind of an experience. And they get no health care coverage for it either. This psychologist's specialty was addictions. He relayed a story that in WW1 or II -- don't recall because it was many years ago -- he said the government gave it to the solders because it calmed them down and also increased their focus. And, helped them live through some God awful stuff. So, perhaps all you judgmental people should take a little more care -- I think most smokers realize they are addicted and don't know what to do -- it has taken them too hard. I'm sure they know the risks and are only still smoking for a few reasons -- hard addiction and no self esteem.
