Never Underestimate The Power Of Prayer

A poorly dressed lady with a look of defeat on her face, walked into a grocery store. She approached the owner of the store in a most humble manner and asked if he would let her charge a few groceries. She softly explained that her husband was very ill and unable to work, they had seven children and they needed food.

The grocer scoffed at her and requested that she leave his store.
Visualizing the family needs, she said: "Please, sir! I will bring you the money just as soon as I can.". The Grocer told her he could not give her credit, as she did not have a charge account at his store.

Standing beside the counter was a customer who overheard the conversation between the two. The customer walked forward and told the grocer that he would stand good for whatever she needed for her family.

The grocer said in a very reluctant voice, "Do you have a grocery list?". The lady replied, "Yes sir"

"O.K." he said, "put your grocery list on the scales and whatever your grocery list weighs, I will give you that amount in groceries."

The lady, hesitated a moment with a bowed head, then she reached into her purse and took out a piece of paper and scribbled something on it. She then laid the piece of paper on the scale carefully with her head still bowed.

The eyes of the grocer and the customer showed amazement when the scales went down and stayed down.

The grocer, staring at the scales, turned slowly to the customer and said begrudgingly, "I can't believe it."

The customer smiled and the grocer started putting the groceries on the other side of the scales.

The scale did not balance so he continued to put more and more groceries on them until the scales would hold no more. The grocer stood there in utter disgust.

Finally, he grabbed the piece of paper from the scales and looked at it with greater amazement.

It was not a grocery list; it was a prayer which said: "Dear Lord, you know my needs and I am leaving this in your hands.". The grocer gave her the groceries that he had gathered and stood in stunned silence.

The lady thanked him and left the store. The customer handed a fifty-dollar bill to the grocer and said, "It was worth every penny of it."

It was some time later that the grocer discovered the scales were actually broken; therefore, only God knows how much a prayer weighs....

Never underestimate the power of prayer ~ Have a blessed day!

Amen that was awesome story you never know who maybe asking you for help. Even though the grocer did'nt like that he gave away that food for free he should think twice before turning some one away who is hungry. Even though the customer paid it he really did'nt have too. Thank God for prayers.

Thank you Lord for all that you have blessed us with. Help me to be like this lady, not ashamed to let others know that you will supply our "needs" if we leave it in your hands.

    11. I lost my beloved husband last year. Since then, I have been struggling at times as I learned to live on a fixed income much lower that I'm used to having. Each time I didn't know what I was going to do, I asked God for help and it came.

    17. I hope you are right. Tonight I sit in my house all alone. For 58 years, I had the most wonderful husband , and Sat, he went home to be with GOD.
I have always been afraid to stay by myself at night and I had stayed with my son until tonight. We have never gotten along to well and it seems in his tone of voice when he talks to me, he doesn't have much love or respect for me. He did loove his daddy, but did a very poor jb of showing him. I am in my housenow, afraid, but I am going to stay in our home because my husband loved his home. Please pray for me, that GOD will watch over me this night and many more and to take this fear away from me. GOD is Good.

    18. I lost my husband at age 55 a little over 2.5 years ago. My faith is what gets me though the toughest times. We have a son (not 13) with autism and I thank God every minute for giving me the 13 yrs with my husband and my son to help me "have" to carry on in this world until we are a happy family again. You can do this - He will help you. Remember to Give it Up to God and He'll take care of everything. Surround yourself with supportive family and friends that will help and reach out to support groups - they are His lifelines left to aid us in the stormy seas. God Bless <3 +

For the woman who lost her husband after 58 years, God bless you sweetie. He will be there for you if you just ask Him to be. I'm praying for you and I hope you find things and people that put some joy back in your life. You will be reunited with your husband some day, but I'm sure he wouldn't want you to quit living the life you have here on earth. Hugs and prayers my dear.

  6. Oh I love this story. I was next to tears when I read it. It really describes life well that people struggles so much and have hard times. Then other people instead of helping them out they just look down on them and make life harder for them. The only person we can really trust in life is god and he is always there when we are struggling through hard times or difficulties. He is always listening even though we think he's not. Thank u for this story it inspired me so much. I am like the poor lady I always struggle through trials and tests and nobody wants to help me they make life harder for me so I do have to stand alone. I always turn to god and prayer in my good and bad times. I than god when life is good for me and pray for help in hard times. I never look down on anyone or judge people because everyone has their own story in life and have to face their own battles. I have a positive attitude about life and believe everything happens for a reason. That's why people really try to bring me down all the time. They think I'm so happy and can deal with everything in life. Truth is u can't judge a book by its cover. When I am by myself I would cry to myself and jst hide my hurt all the time. People only see the brave smile on my face but they don't know the hurt inside me. Thank u god for the strength that u have given me and the courage to face my battles. Even though life is hard u will fix all the problems in my life and give me the strength and faith to get through it. Amen

  27. This is one of the most powerful posts I've read in a very long time. Just recently, I was in a similar predicament. Retirement pension was late, family would not/could not help and we literally had no food in the house. Went to the store with ten dollars worth of change thinking to purchase a small pack of chicken. A young man standing next to me watched me counting out the money and gently put him hand on my shoulder, and said, "That's all you got? Don't worry ma'am, I got you." He bought that chicken for me that day and my husband and I were able to eat that day and the next day our money came. God is truly good and He is faithful...

    1. I'm so sorry to here that you lost your Husband at such a young age.and yes it is so easy to lose the faith, and it can be very hard to find it again,I my self lost a baby son the very next day after he was born, and yes it took me a very long time to believe in the man upstairs. but at the time all I wanted was my son back, the loss was so unbearable it was not until a few years later I started fostering young children and during that time three young children came to live with us, two or three years later we were told that these children would be getting adopted to other families but would be getting split up,I was at a loss as was told three was to many for me to adopt, that night I went to bed and cried so hard I started praying to God and that was the first time since my son died that I allowed myself to say these words please god don't take these children away from me you took my son when he was a baby these three children need me to love them as one please let me keep them, the very next day I had a call saying that the social worker was on her way round for me to sign the papers, three months later I had two sons and a daughter to share my home with my three other daughters so never give up in life there are reasons for everything miracles do happen some just take longer than others.god bless you

  44. This is a heart warming story, it really hit home I've been there so many times when my 6 kids were small there were times when they went to bed hungry and I went to bed crying trying to figure out what to do the next day, now all my kids are grown and they never forgot those times and they are always ready to help anyone in need and I'm so proud of them for that but they paid a high prize, we lost 2 of our sons one at the age of 19 and then 7months later we lost our 17 year old I can not begin to tell you the pain and the anger that I felt towards GOD for allowing this to happen to my sweet boys that never hurt anyone one was shot during a home break in the other in a car, I lost my dad last year , my brother which I'm very close to is fighting lung cancer and now my husband has been diagnosed with 3 tumors one in his throat 2 near his heart and one in his colon so right now I'm finding it very hard to believe in God I feel so alone.

  45. I fully agree with this story because I too have experienced what the power of a prayer can do when god hears you, Here is my story: At 25 weeks I gave birth to a baby girl weighing 1lb. 12oz.
At two and a half months she contracted a severe infection, she was placed in a drug induced comma and full life support; we were told she had less than a 50 percent chance of surviving. That night I was able to sleep in a room that was connected to the NICU. Now before I continue on I have to add that my mother passed away in 2002. Just before I closed my eyes that night my exact prayer went like this: Dear father please allow your angel Deborah, my mother to watch over my baby and help her get through this and heal. My precious baby girl had made through the 24 hours and they took her out of the drug induced comma and healing began. I believe this to be a sign that my prayer had been answered when two days later I was standing next to my baby and looked down at the blanket she was laying on and there was a little patch that had a little old lady with angel wings, above the angel it said Granny Angel and I knew right then my baby was going to be with me for the rest of my life. My daughter is now 6 years old and other than developmental delays she is a normal little girl.

YES,,I KNOW AND BELIEVED WITH THE POWER OF PRAYER BECAUSE I'VE ALSO EXPERIENCE THAT KIND OF POWER IN MANY PROBLEMS AND TRIALS IN MY LIFE AND I THOUGHT I COULDN'T PASS OR TAKE IT ANYMORE,,,,BUT THANKS GOD BECAUSE EVEN IF IM A SINNER ,,,,GOD WAS ALWAYS THERE WHENEVER I NEED HIM AND UNTIL NOW IM STILL ALIVE AND STANDING AND SURVIVING IT ALL. AND I HOPE THAT THE TRIALS THAT IM ENCOUNTERING AT THIS PERIOD OF TIME WILL SOON BE PASS AND MY PRAYERS WILL BE HEARD BY GOD AGAIN BUT IM ONLY WAITING FOR HIS RIGHT TIMING.

Also, there must be some community food banks in that would be able to give some help. Hopefully, many people who read this will be willing to give a little something and pray for them. 60. I agree that prayer is the cornerstone to faith but please, please understand that GOD is aware of everything going on. and when I am presented with obstacles, I pray for guidance but not for HIM to fix or review. GOD is testing our resolve and our ability to overcome adversityam and the strength of our faith and commitment to HIS promise that, in the end, HE will not forsake us. Stop looking up and saying, "why me, LORD" and realize, "why not me?" GOD wants us to be victorious but not at the hand of HIM fixing it. HE wants to SMILE at your ability to not only resolve issues but witness the strength you've acquired and the faith that you have accepted and implemented in your life. HE can fix anything but that is not the thrust behind HIS plan for each of us. And how do you explain the atheist who has victories without any help from GOD. These are all lessons to us. Don't ask GOD to fix your problems nut rather pray to HIM for love, guidance, strength and a powerful faith to guide you through whatever obstacle is presented. GOD bless all of you and your ability to work in concert with GOD
