Lunar Eclipse
April 25th 2013
Please share this post so as many people as possible around the world can view this amazing spectacle...
A partial Lunar Eclipse will take place on April 25, 2013,
the first of three lunar eclipses in 2013. Only a tiny sliver of the Moon
will be covered by the Earth's shadow at maximum eclipse,
but the entire northern half of the moon will be darkened from being
inside the shadow generated.
It will be second shortest partial eclipse of the moon this century. |
(1) An eclipse doesn't last 24 hours, so its not possible to see it "around the world" as the photo suggests. In the case of the April 25 lunar eclipse will only be visible over Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia.
ReplyDelete(2) A lunar eclipse is when the moon disappears behind the earth's shadow temporarily. The photo above is an illustration of a solar eclipse (When the moon blocks out the sun).
Thankyou for clearing that up.
DeleteYour image is that of a solar eclipse - where the moon is between the earth and the sun. A lunar eclipse would be where the earth is between the sun and the moon.
ReplyDeleteI'm seeing this on Facebook, the reason those details were left out is because the main population of people who will be SHARING this are people in America/Europe (who won't be able to see it) and his website is on the picture twice, so he can't risk losing all this free publicity by actually informing people of the reality of the event, now can he?
